SEN Provision

Resourced Nurseries/Children's Centres' Plus

Provision in the pre-5 phase is undergoing change.  Certain nursery schools and primary schools received additional funding to support a fixed number of young children with severe and complex SEN.  These provisions were called resourced nurseries.

Following consultations during 2005 it was agreed to maintain this resourced provision in the Nursery Schools, which will shortly become Children's Centres 'plus' and that the provision in the maintained primary schools would be closed in August 2006 and re-located to other Children's Centres.

The provision from September 2006 is:

Canterbury Children's Centre

Basil Street

Bradford

BD5 9HL

St Edmund's Nursery School and Children's Centre (Girlington)

Bingley Street

Bradford

BD8 9AH

Strong Close Nursery School and Children's Centre

Hirst Wood Nursery School (to become a Children's Centre 2007)

BD18 4NJ

The provision at Barkerend Primary School will continue until August 2007 when the future provision for this area will have been secured.

The provision in each of the Children's Centres 'plus' will consist of a minimum of 8 FTE places.  Admissions to this provision is determined by the Early Years Inclusion Panel which is jointly administered by Education Bradford and the Council's Early Years and Childcare Service.

The consultation on the review of specialist provision for deaf pupils

Education Bradford has undertaken a review of provision for deaf pupils with special educational needs (SEN).  This part of the SEN Review particularly focuses on Bradford District's provision for deaf pupils.  Education Bradford and Bradford Council share a desire for the development of the best possible provision for deaf pupils so that they have the highest quality of education to equip them for life in the 21st century. Use the links below to view current documentation.

In October 2005 Executive agreedto these proposals and statutory notices was published in the summer term 2006 on both the closure of certain current provision and the opening of the new provision.
