The School Travel Service assesses eligibility for assistance with travel from home to school, makes safe and appropriate travel arrangements on the school bus network (through Metro) and by dedicated/specialist taxis and minibuses (through WYTS) and presents the EB position at appeals. The service also provides school crossing patrols throughout the Bradford district and advises on school travel policy and issues school travel plans.

School Crossing Patrol Service information and useful links
School Crossing patrols were established by the School Crossing Patrols Act 1953 and instituited on 1 July 1954 through the School Crossing Patrol Order 1954.
The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 gave appropriate Authorities the power to appoint School Crossing Patrols to help children on their way to and from school between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:30 pm.
Patrols operate at such times the authority thinks fit, to stop traffic and help anyone (child or adult) to cross the road safely whether or not they are travelling to or from school.
