Bradford Education Business Partnership

We help businesses link with schools

Bradford EBP promotes creative and productive partnerships between the business community and education.  We provide advice, introduction, support, customised programmes, training and signposting.  The aim is to ensure that businesses and schools all gain maximum benefit from the Education Business Partnership experience.

Bradford EBP offers support and opportunities for businesses to work with schools and as a result of engaging with schools, businesses will be able to:

ü

Influence young people in their thinking and aspirations

ü      Help them to understand the skills needed by business

ü      Increase their awareness of career opportunities available in different sectors

ü     Impart knowledge of current business practices

ü    Promote entrepreneurial thinking

ü      Gather evidence of activity which supports accreditation towards standards such as Investors in People

We will talk you through the different programmes, what is available, what is realistic, what is possible, what it means to the young people and what it means for your business.  We will also help you to develop your own ideas for engagement with local schools.  You can give as much or as little time as you like to various activities.

How your business can get involved

Work Experience – you could offer work experience to school students in a variety of ways e.g. one or two week blocks, one or two days a week and/or qualification specific placements for the diplomas and vocational options.  Using a dedicated database, Bradford EBP co-ordinate work experience across Bradford and Leeds, ensuring that health and safety checks are in place and that students are matched to appropriate placements.

Teacher Professional Development Placements offer short term or long term placements for teachers/educationalists in business to inform them of up to date aspects of business practice and available career opportunities for their students.

Enterprise Projects – long term, short term, subject specific, cross curricular, qualification specific, individually or involving a range of partners, different support is needed.

Speakers/business support in school – subject/expertise specific e.g. business planning, use of IT in an organisation.  Includes help with CV writing and interview.  This can be support for the students through presentations in lessons and/or it can be support for the school itself e.g. a business man with financial skills working with the school bursar.

Student visits to organisations – students benefit from "real life" experiences.  They draw on their experiences when writing assignments for their course work which is often vocationally based.  Organisations which are unique within Bradford may suffer from repeated approaches from individual schools requesting student visits.  If requested Bradford EBP offer a service to organisations to manage and co-ordinate this process so that scheduled tours dates are agreed and advertised to schools.  Bradford EBP would administer the bookings and deal with inquiries.

Governors – We need more Governors with business skills and there is a dedicated Governors Service operating within Education Bradford offering full support, training and advice for potential governors.

Inspirer - Successful role models are urged to work with the city's schools to inspire pupils to achieve their goals.  We are looking for role models to become Inspirers for Bradford's young people.  Everyday heroes, people like you, can make a difference to a young person's confidence and enthusiasm to succeed.  Can you spare a small amount of time from your busy schedule to help shape the future of our young people? We have students waiting to be inspired by your story.

Sponsorship opportunities – you can use these opportunities as part of your Corporate Social Responsibility programme.  It also helps to raise your profile in the school and community by visually demonstrating that you are involved.

Community/voluntary/commercial partnerships with schools – there are numerous ways that these partnerships can develop.  Please contact us to discuss the various opportunities.

Sustainability - Schools are addressing a range of sustainability issues and would welcome the opportunity to work in partnership with other organisations.

Training courses – businesses offering spare places on in house training courses for educationalists e.g. time management, recruitment.
